OUTSTEPS is an innovative start up network focused on co-producing knowledge, valuing wisdom, and recognizing the complex linkages of sharing a large part of the Lower Great Lakes Biosphere. 

Our collaboration network is rooted in our shared understanding that we are all part of an interconnected watershed system and decisions made by one entity locally will likely impact the larger region.

OUTSTEPS supports sustainable regional system science by focusing trans-disciplinary (TD) research on how climate change impacts the social, economic, and natural ecosystems in the shallow Lake Erie and much deeper Lake Ontario interconnected temperate zone lake environments.

Our Network, designed for adaptation and growth, engages in various dimensions and scales through collaborative, TD, convergent research and the co-production of knowledge to facilitate enhanced sustainability and community resilience.
